NAtional Mead Day - Aug. 1st  (United States)

Hey everybody!

Is anyone interested in participating the the National Mead Day on Aug 1st?  I'm going to have a Mead/BBQ/Teach a friend to Group Brew Day here in the thriving megalopolis of Bartonville, Il.  I will be starting the Brinkman Smoker up around 10-11 am, and start the brewing about 12 noon'ish.  and plan on eating right after I pitch the yeast into my Mead.   If any of you would like to stop down, and join in on the fun you are welcome to.  IF you would like to brew a Mead please let me know, as I'm planning on regestering the event with the AHA.

So bring your equipment to Widebodys Brewery and lets make some Mead!!

Oh yeah the address is:  4209 Scholl Ct., Bartonville, IL. 61607.  Phone:   (563) 340-0077

Cheers!

Kurt

Re: NAtional Mead Day - Aug. 1st  (United States)

Well the results are in.  7 attendees, 3 brewers, 19 gallons of Mead (5.5 was my Baggot) brewed....Made......Whatever!  2 Blueberry Melomel's 1.087 O.G. & 1.090 O.G, 1 Braggot 1.111 O.G.  There were 2 attendees from the ABNormal club.  Tom who brewed, and Jim who brought over a WONDERFUL Cherry-Vanilla Still Mead that he had made about 2 years ago.  Man was that a perfect example of what a really good mead taste like.  Smooth & balanced.  The Smoked Meats I cooked came out moist and tasty and were well recieved.  Maybe the MUGZ Club could have a Mead education in the future for some of the newer brewers.

Cheers

Kurt
