Subject: Granite City Open

Hi Jason, could you please spread the word around the Quad Cities?  We could sure use your help.  Thanks!

I am the judge coordinator for the 1st Annual Granite City Open at the Staybridge Suites in WDM on May 15th.  I am recruiting judges and stewards for the event.

We have 448 beers so we will need all the help we can get.  I will be recruiting from far and wide and we are also looking into a second site (such as the Twin Cities or somewhere) to take off some of the load.  Looking into Thursday and/or Friday night sessions as well.

Granite City is providing food and beer during the event as well as brewing ingredients (grain and hops), discount cards, and/or mug club cards for those who would like them.  They also have a corporate rate for judges to use at the Staybridge.

I need to start compiling lists of judges and stewards so if you can help please let me know.  Thanks!

Ron Staab

Results are available here.

I took 2nd place in German Wheat and Rye Beers with my Grapefruit Hefeweizen many of you tried at the April meeting :) Wishing I had been able to edge into first so I could have won the gift certificates and had a much better argument for why I should be devoting time to this hobby with my wife, but happy with a win none the less!

good job; also, congrats to Dave M & Joe W--although the only reward is a certificate.  Is GC really going to brew a barleywine for their seasonal beer??
