Supermarket Malt Extract  (United States)

Does anybody know of any supermarkets or grocery stores in the Quad Cities (preferably on the Illinois side of the river) that sell malt extract?  If you do, please respond on the forum or to me directly at: daveloete@live.com.

I am going to reply to my own post, since nobody else seems willing to.  HyVee on the Avenue of the Cities (23rd Avenue) in Moline now sells Eden  organic malt extract syrup.  It is available in 1.25 lb. jars.  It is stocked in the Health Foods section of the store.

Perhaps you haven't considered that no one actually has this info to give.  I would certainly have been "wiiling" to give any information I had on buying malt extract syrup from a grocery store, but I buy all my homebrew ingredients from reputable homebrew shops, as does the rest of the club.

I'm glad you found malt extract syrup from a grocery store.  I'm looking forward to trying the results at the next meeting.

There was a very good reason for this inquiry.  It has to do with my current financial situation and the fact that homebrew shops do not accept food stamps.  I made a Munich Helles with the extract from HyVee, actually a partial-mash.  I will have some available at the next meeting.  Also, HyVee carries rice syrup, which is fermentable, also in the Health Food section of the store.  This might be of interest to anyone wanting to make a light lager.
